this is a very realistic and fun game for me and many of my friends. it feels so good when you reel in a 42.5 lb bass and it tells you that you caught a legendary fish but definately do not buy from this guy i bought the game 2 days ago but he has not even shipped it yet. bottom line dont buy it from this guy if you really want it
-- you should definatley buy this game if you like fishing
I consider myself to be a decent fisherman. I have been fishing since I was a little kid and my favorite type of fishing is bass fishing. I love to study on how to use different lures and I used to always catch bass masters saturday morning on ESPN. I had this game called "Championship Bass" I used to play on the computer all the time in college. So, one day I was itching to play some fishing and I looked up fishing games on line and I saw this little gem.
My order came really quick, so I popped in my computer and fired it up. For PC users, the mouse does work in place of the fishing rod. I was a little worried about that. So I hopped in the boat and started scooting around the lake. This was a lot of fun. I also preceded to crash into another fishermans boat at 35 mph. He had no reaction which sadly was not what i was hoping for. I then decided to find a weeded bank and work my way down it. No fish. So I drove around until it popped up in the fish finder. Stopped and fished. Nothing. I didn't even see a fish in the water. After another two hours I didn't see one fish. Now I can understand realism, but if I wanted true realism, I'd take a boat out. When you play a video game, you do it for the fun factor.
So then, I found my copy of championship bass, popped in my laptop to see if it would work with vista, and bam. It did. That game starts you out fishing right away. The fish are challenging to catch but you can see them. And you don't go 5 minutes without hooking one. Then it showed me how difficult "The Strike" was to play. With the strike you can't see around the lure, to see where the fish are. Championship Bass (CB) shows you the whole entire area around your lure so you can spot fish. The strike, there is...well no strike. There isn't even fish carrying picket signs. It's a rather boring game, though the graphics are beautiful. I recommend buying championship bass by EA sports. It's really cheap and it's an awesome game.

We just bought a Wii for Father's Day and since my husband is a fisherman, I bought him the fishing package with The Strike Bass Pro game along with the reel. We tried it that day and it was so frustrating with the rod that we gave up for a month or two. We tried again last week without the rod and we LOVE it!
My husband (who is an avid fisherman) is having the best time playing it along with my 9 year old son and 5 year old daughter.
We would recommend to first buy the 17lb line from Bass Pro shops and put it on. Then go to some Casting tournaments to earn some money and then buy the best baitcaster and trigger rod you can afford. You can then pull in big fish faster in the tournaments.
Read the manual before you start so you don't get frustrated! It's a lot of fun! But if you are like me and had no clue what to buy or not buy, don't even bother with trying to buy the package with the rod. It's lots of fun without it. -- You don't need the rod. Tons of fun for my fisherman husband and kids!
Imagine the fun of driving your own Bass Boat and the exitement of catching a variety of fish from several different lakes, all from the comfort of your own home while sitting on your favorite easy chair. Thats what The Strike is all about. The graphics are great and supply a great deal of realistic thrills. The tournaments and boat races certainly are fun and challenging. There is however a need to learn how to play the game. The instruction booklet leaves alot to be desired. But if you take the time to figure it out, and practice casting, you too will get as much enjoyment and satisfaction as I am getting. I'm 74 years old and would recommend it for children of all ages. -- Great game ... once you learn how to play it
